The Cotter Campground is the most highly serviced bushland camping area in the ACT. It is located on Cotter Road around 15 km from the western edge of Canberra. The area is part of the Murrumbidgee river corridor.
The Murrumbidgee River flows for 1600 km from its headwaters in Kosciuszko National Park to its junction with the Murray River near the town of Balranald in NSW. The river and its catchment is a significant part of the Murray-Darling Basin, supplying water for people, agriculture and wildlife along its length.
The Murrumbidgee River was also historically important to Aboriginal groups including the Ngunnawal, Wiradjuri and Nari Nari. The descendants of these groups maintain a close interest and involvement in management of the Murrumbidgee River Corridor.
Parks, Lands and Conservation engaged Screenmakers to produce signage for the Cotter area.
This included :
- Site Identification Signage -
Steel framed signs consisting of 1800mm x 900mm aluminium panels, with graphics directly printed. The signs also included anti-graffiti clear coating for protection against vandalism. These signs were installed onto concrete footings.
- Regulation Signage -
These signs include a breakdown of the rules and prohibitions associated with a particular area - such as bathing rules, animals etc...
- Cotter Camping Information Shelter -
This is a double sided sign, installed into an existing shelter onsite. This signage has a lockable information board that allows for the graphics to be changed. The graphics are digitally backprinted onto Polycarbonate sheeting and then installed to the existing shelter.
